On Wednesday 5th of October 2016 we covered the successful Year 7 Induction Evening. It was a very successful night for all involved.
The night was about keeping parents up to date with the events that were happening at school; they were told about Holyhead’s standards and what they expect from the students.
The people who were involved in this were Miss Blake and the Year 8 leaders who were very brave in sharing their experiences at Holyhead School. “It was nerve racking and kind of fun being a role model showing everyone around,” said Manpreet. Amrit added, “It was great telling everyone about our time and experience and how we felt on our first few days, it kind of felt like being a Senior Student.” Year 8 Leaders were chosen as they are outstanding students who excel in their studies; just goes to show if you work hard at Holyhead, you will be recognised.
We asked Mrs Blake her views about the night: “The Year 7 Induction Evening was brilliant as ever, standing room only.
We had a lot of parents asking questions so I believe this year’s induction evening was even more successful than last year. We had better speakers. I felt the speakers themselves were brilliant because they were really sharing what they were doing”.
We asked, “What was the parents’ response like?”
Mrs Blake said that the response from the parents was very positive, “I like the feedback from the parents because they can tell us how to be more active.”
One parent said, “I thought it was great and I liked it when the Year 8s shared their journey through Holyhead, it was very interesting.”
The night ended successfully with parents and staff chatting over cookies and coffee.
