Curriculum Overview Sociology 2018-2019

The GCSE Sociology exam has two papers. GCSE Sociology aims to broaden students’ minds, helping them to see their world from different perspectives and in new and thought-provoking ways. Sociology helps students to gain knowledge and understanding of key social structures, processes and issues through the study of families, education, crime and deviance and social stratification.

  • Fortnightly timed 12 markers (on all topics covered to date or the paper from the specification)

  • Weekly 12 mark homework

  • 2, 3, & 4 markers every lesson

Applying knowledge to source material.

Crime & Deviance


Definitions of crime. Debates between theories about explanations for criminal behaviour.
