You have been offered a place at Holyhead …What’s next?
At Holyhead we fully understand that the move from primary school into secondary school can be a little unsettling for both your child and yourself. For this reason the process to smooth transition starts as soon as possible. All Members of the Leadership Team, Heads of College and Student Support Work Officers make a visit to each of our feeder schools and meet each Year 6 student coming to Holyhead. New Intake days at Holyhead Holyhead has three New Intake days. We have three days to make sure that students can build their confidence by getting to know students from other schools and get a 'feel' for what a typical day at Holyhead is like. Details of each day will have been sent out to you by post. Year 7 Induction Evening Early in the first term you will be invited to a Year 7 Induction Evening. This evening is for both parents/carers and students. You will have the opportunity to meet the Principal and the Leadership Team along with other key members of staff. Pastoral Holyhead has a vertical tutoring system that is based around 4 Colleges: Corwen, Oswestry, Meridan and Edgware. The strong pastoral system provides all students with the opportunity to develop important interpersonal skills and become a well-rounded member of the school community. Academic The curriculum provision at Holyhead is designed to provide all students with the required skills and knowledge which is rich in content and detailed in depth to make informed decisions for the future Key Stage 4 options. We have also produced a Curriculum Handbook so as to support your child's learning throughout Years 7 and 8.
