Subject Intent

The intent of the STEM element of our Design and Technology KS3 curriculum is to inspire and equip students with the creative, technical, and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world. The curriculum aims to foster innovation and problem-solving skills by encouraging students to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts. It emphasises the importance of sustainability and the responsible use of resources, ensuring students understand the impact of their designs on the environment. Through hands-on projects, students develop critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills, preparing them for future challenges and opportunities.
