End of Term Update Letter – 9th December
7 December 2021
As we move towards the end of term we wanted to update you on some key dates coming up this side of Christmas and the return to school arrangements in January 2022.
Holyhead’s Day of Celebration – Friday 10th December
With this year being one where many of our customs and cultural celebrations have been affected by the restrictions necessary to combat the spread of the virus, we are inviting all students to join us in a multicultural celebration on Friday 10th December.
Students and staff are asked to wear (or bring) something that shows how proud they are of their identity, and how they celebrate in their religion and cultures, which might mean students wearing Christmas jumpers, traditional clothing to celebrate Eid, or decorating hands with mehndi or henna.
We are not asking students to pay to wear these items, however, we will be collecting donations for Save The Children, and will also be holding some virtual fundraising events in the build-up this week, as well as on the day. Please encourage your son/daughter to get involved, we would like the day to be one of communal celebration.
Year 7 Curriculum Review Meeting – Tuesday 14th December
On Tuesday 14th December we will be holding the final Curriculum Review Meeting of this term focused on Year 7 following their recent assessments. On this day, as with other Curriculum Review Meetings students will leave the school site via their normal exit gate at the end of lunch at 1.45pm.
All students eligible for Free School Meals will be able to collect one before leaving.
We will confirm the exact arrangements for this in a separate message.
As with all of these early finishes for Curriculum Review Meetings, we will be asking teachers to post resources and assignments on Google Classroom for their Period 4 lessons when they are in Curriculum Review meetings so that students can continue their learning remotely in the afternoon.
End of Autumn Term Arrangements
The final day of this term is Friday, 17th December. We will be breaking up at 12 noon. Students will attend Periods 1 and 2 as normal. Tutor time will be held from 11.30am -12 noon.
We will be writing to you tomorrow about the arrangements for the new term and to share our reflections of this equally magical but challenging time.
We thank you again for all of your support during a term like no other before, and we value your time in reading this. We wish you and your family good health over the festive period and a happy end to what has been a challenging year.
Mr R Trafford, Principal & Mr D Knox, Deputy Principal
